Cleora is a fast, minimal, editorial blog theme built for long-form reading.

== Description ==

Cleora pairs a calm typographic system with a deliberately small front end. Version 2 is a
full rebuild of the theme's design and code:

* A design-token architecture. Colour, type, spacing and layout are defined once as CSS
  custom properties in style.css and mirrored in theme.json, so the block editor and the
  front end look the same.
* No CSS framework, no JavaScript framework and no build step. One hand-authored
  stylesheet and roughly five kilobytes of vanilla JavaScript for the menu and search.
* No web font requests. Cleora uses a refined system font stack: a sans-serif for the
  interface and a serif for article text, so the first paint has no layout shift.
* A reading-first single post template with a generous measure, wide and full-width block
  support, an author biography, related posts and post-to-post navigation.
* Accessible by design: visible focus states, keyboard-operable menus and sub-menus,
  landmarks, a skip link, screen-reader labels and reduced-motion support.

== Features ==

* Responsive, mobile-first layouts from small phones to large desktops
* Blog index with a featured lead article and a post grid
* Optional sidebar, configurable per view from the Customizer
* Header search panel and accessible mobile navigation
* Sidebar and footer widget areas
* Block editor styling for the common core blocks, plus three block patterns
* Custom logo, custom background, custom menus and featured images
* Translation ready, with an up-to-date .pot file

== Installation ==

1. In your admin panel, go to Appearance > Themes and click the "Add New" button.
2. Type Cleora in the search field and press Enter.
3. Click Activate to start using the theme.
4. Go to Appearance > Customize to set your logo, accent colour, sidebar behaviour and
   social links.

== Upgrading from Cleora 1.x ==

Existing content, menus, widgets and featured images continue to work. Note that:

* Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js have been removed. If a child theme relied on Tailwind
  utility classes in the parent markup, those classes are gone; the theme now uses
  semantic class names such as .post-card, .entry-content and .site-header.
* The `cleora_link_color` setting is read as the default for the new "Accent colour"
  control, so a colour chosen in 1.x is preserved.
* The `cleora_widget_header_color` setting is no longer used; widget headings now follow
  the theme's typographic system.
* Single posts and pages are full width by default. Choose "Everywhere, including posts
  and pages" under Appearance > Customize > Cleora Options to restore the 1.x behaviour.
* Sidebar widgets (`sidebar-1`) and both menu locations (`primary`, `footer`) are unchanged.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does the theme require a build step? =

No. style.css is the stylesheet the browser loads; edit it directly.

= How do I change the colours? =

Set the accent colour in Appearance > Customize > Colors. To change the whole palette,
edit the custom properties at the top of style.css and the matching values in theme.json.

= Where did the sidebar on single posts go? =

Long-form reading works better without one, so it is off by default. Appearance >
Customize > Cleora Options > Sidebar turns it back on.
