Optimi AI Search - changelog of the older versions

The three newest versions are in readme.txt. Newest first.

= 1.12.4 =
* The plugin's page on wordpress.org: a new readme with eight screenshots and the video. The plugin link points to optimi.nl/ai-search.

= 1.12.3 =
* "Most searched" counts each search once, whatever the page's language. The list and its chart keep the right order.
* On a store in several languages, Enter in your theme's search box opens results in the page's language.

= 1.12.2 =
* Enter in your theme's own search box opens the product results. Before, it could show "Nothing found".
* The card about a new version says how to install it.
* The store check says who was slow: Optimi or your website.
* Smaller fixes on several tabs, and clearer wording in six languages.

= 1.12.1 =
* After you go back to an older version, the Optimi Portal shows the right version at once.
* A shorter message when a new version is ready.

= 1.12.0 =
* Plan and connection shows the plugin version on your website and the latest one.
* When a newer version is ready, a card at the top of every screen of the plugin says so, with the first change, the full list under "What changed", how to install it, and a button to the Optimi Portal, where you download it.
* When the plugin is too old for the service, the red message now has the same button.
* The plugin never downloads or installs anything itself: once it is on wordpress.org, WordPress offers its updates as for any plugin; until then you upload the new version from the Optimi Portal under Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin.

= 1.11.2 =
* One name, in every language, for the place where you manage your plan, buy credits, find your invoices and read your tickets: the Optimi Portal, at portal.optimi.nl. The buttons say "Open the Optimi Portal", "Buy credits in the Optimi Portal" and "Subscribe in the Optimi Portal"; every sentence that sent you to "your Optimi account page" or "the portal" now names the Optimi Portal. Nothing else changed.

= 1.11.1 =
* "Before you go" on the Plugins page: Escape, a click beside the box and the new Cancel button now close it and keep the plugin active. "Skip" is now called "Deactivate without answering".
* A wrong license key saved by mistake, then the right one again, no longer starts your search index over. As long as the key belongs to the same service, everything sent stays sent, and the setup guide and the store check keep their state. While a key is refused, the index tile says "Not known right now" and Send now is hidden.
* Deactivating and reactivating the plugin with the same license key no longer sends everything again: when the key still belongs to the same service, your search index, the setup guide and the store check stay as they were. With a key of another service everything is sent again, as before.
* The store check no longer shows "License key refused" once a later check or connection works again.
* The visitor language has its own card on the Search box tab, "Language of the search box". After a save you stay on it and read which language your visitors now get. The language list works only with "Always this language", and the Words fields say which languages are not shown while one is fixed.
* With a refused license key, Try it says that comparing needs a working key, and Help leads you to your Optimi account page instead of a ticket form.
* One name for where you manage your plan: your Optimi account page.
* The Optimi search box keeps its placeholder readable in a narrow place: in a sidebar widget and on the full-screen search of a phone, the button shows its icon only.
* "See all 2 results" now reads "See 2 results"; a little more room under "No products found" in the dropdown.
* Numbers, percentages and dates follow your language everywhere: the credit packs ("5.000 créditos"), the chart axes, "88 %", and "7 octobre 2026 à 14:05".
* Posts and pages are named in the plugin's own words on the Search index tab, also when WordPress has no language pack for your language.
* Clearer words in all seven languages, and the plan features read the same way on every plan list.

= 1.11.0 =
* The plugin speaks seven languages: English, Dutch, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian, for your screens and for your visitors.
* A language switch at the top right of every screen of the plugin. The screens are in English until you choose; every admin chooses their own, and the rest of your WordPress admin keeps its language.
* Every variant of a language uses its words: the Optimi search box on a Belgian Dutch store now speaks Dutch to its visitors, on an Austrian store German, on a Brazilian store Portuguese.
* New on the Search box tab: "Visitor language". The words of the Optimi search box and its dropdown follow the page, as before, or are always in the language you choose. A search still goes out in the language of the page.
* When you sign up from the plugin, your Optimi account is made in your language, and so is the welcome email, when the portal speaks it (English and Dutch today).

= 1.10.2 =
* One word for what Optimi can find: your search index. The Index tab and the Products list column are now called Search index.

= 1.10.1 =
* The text for your privacy page now also covers the search log and popular searches. Paste it again into your privacy statement if you use either.
* A service that has ended now says so on every tab ("Service ended"), instead of asking for a working license key. Help says what you can still do on your Optimi account page, in your own language.
* The Index tab is no longer green while visitors can't use Optimi (a refused key, a stopped or ended service, Optimi out of reach), or right after a new license key while nothing has been sent yet. When items wait for room in your plan, "Not in the search, and why" says how many, with the Upgrade plan button.
* Shops with more than one language: the Optimi search box now searches in the language of the page the visitor is on.
* Posts and pages you send are shown in the Optimi search box while visitors type, under "On this site". When only posts or pages match, the box says "No products for these words." above them.
* Home is green when your theme's own search box already gives results while typing, even without the Optimi search box placed.
* The trial says the truth on a store with more products than the Free plan holds: how many stay findable after it.
* Sending everything again counts only what is sent, and calls posts and pages "items".
* The store check shows its rows in your own language, also after the daily run.
* After an update from 1.9 the first page about your data shows at once. After you reactivate the plugin, visitors get Optimi's results while typing right away.
* The Searches tab keeps the period you chose when you add a synonym, and the "Most searched" table fits a phone.
* Every remaining action is a button: "See your options", "Moving your website?", "Replace or remove the license key", "Show me how", "More places and choices", "I already have a license key", and "Create a menu" on a store without one.
* Uninstalling also removes the Optimi search box widget from your widget areas.
* Clearer words in English and Dutch throughout.

= 1.10.0 =
* New: a first page that asks where your store's data is processed: in the EU, or in the Optimi location closest to your store (Global). Optimi keeps your choice with your service. Plan and connection shows it, with a button to change it on your Optimi account page. A store that updates sees the page once.
* New: the Index tab. What is in your search per kind, what waits to be sent, and what couldn't be sent in the last 7 days; what isn't in the search and why, each item with its Edit link; what is sent; and "Send everything again", which moved here from Troubleshooting.
* Page builders: the plugin finds Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Beaver Builder, Bricks, Oxygen, and Breakdance itself, and sends a page built with one as visitors see it. The switch "Send the text as visitors see it" is gone. On the update, everything is checked again in the background, and only what changed is sent.
* Extra fields: on the Index tab you tick the custom fields visitors would search for, each with its name and an example from your store, instead of typing their names.
* The Searches tab has tiles and charts: searches, found something, found nothing, and different words, each compared with the period before; the searches per day; and the 10 most searched words. The period starts at the last 30 days.
* "Found nothing" shows per search whether a synonym covers it: a green check with "See synonym", or a red cross with "Add synonym".
* Plan and connection: the meter turns red when your plan's searches are used up, and a chart under it shows the searches per day of the last 30 days.
* Help: three cards on top. Open a ticket or send a suggestion without leaving your store, or plan a free intake for custom work.
* The text for your privacy page follows your data choice.
* Every action is a button, in the weight it deserves. A text link is only a place to go, inside a sentence or at the foot of a card.

= 1.9.0 =
* New: synonyms, on the Searches tab. "When a visitor types ... also search ...": a word and the words your products use, per language on a multilingual store, up to 200. A word in "Found nothing" has "Add a synonym" beside "Try it".
* New: "Send a search straight to a page", on the Settings tab. A search for exactly those words opens the page you choose on your website - after Enter in any search box, and from the results page.
* New: "Pin, boost, and bury products", on the Settings tab. For the words you choose, put a product first (in your order), higher, or last; you find the product by name or SKU. A product that isn't in the search yet is marked on its row.
* New: popular searches. A second switch beside the search log shows visitors your store's popular searches when they focus the search box, before they type; a click searches those words. You can hide an entry, or show it again, on the Searches tab.
* On a plan without one of these, its card shows what it does, the plan that has it, and "See your options"; what you made on an earlier plan is listed, kept but not applied.
* Results while typing in your theme's own search box too, with "Also in your theme's own search box" under Results while typing - on for new installs and for stores that update. Enter there works as before. A theme or plugin with its own list while typing is left alone, and the store check says so.
* A product's long description is searched too, after the short one. On the update, every product is looked at again in the background, 100 every 5 minutes, and the changed ones are sent again.
* The store check speaks your language: its rows are written when you read them, in the language of your WordPress profile, not in the language the daily check ran in.
* While typing, product names that no longer match the words are taken away at once, instead of staying until Optimi answers.
* On a WPML or Polylang store, the names while typing come from the page's own language only.

= 1.8.2 =
* Before you go: when you deactivate the plugin on the Plugins page and a license key is stored, one small question asks why - seven reasons and a line for a note. Deactivate sends your answer with the deactivation; Skip (or Escape) deactivates without sending anything. Nothing else changes: your key stays saved, and the plugin still releases this website so you can activate it elsewhere.

= 1.8.1 =
* The plans are one comparison table, on the setup screen and on Plan and connection: every plan beside each other, every feature of Optimi AI Search as a row with a check where a plan has it. The Free column says "Start free, forever." with the bonus days under it; on Plan and connection your own plan is marked.
* New: your site's own content types. Under "What visitors can search", every public content type of your site (recipes, projects, a builder's landing pages) can be ticked beside products, posts and pages; it is sent like a post and found like one.
* New: "Send the text as visitors see it (page builders)". On, the plugin sends the words a visitor reads on the page, a page builder's blocks and shortcodes rendered first. On for a new install; a store that updates keeps sending the stored text until you tick it. (Since 1.10.0 the plugin finds a page builder itself, and this switch is gone.)
* New: "Custom fields to search". Name custom fields (ACF or other), separated by commas, and their text is searched too. A field whose name starts with an underscore is left out. (Since 1.10.0 you tick the fields on the Index tab.)
* Uptime on Plan and connection: the share of your visitors' searches Optimi answered in the last 30 days, large, with a block per day - green at 99% or more, amber below, grey on a day without searches. Under 20 searches the card says so instead of showing a number. Home says the same number in one line. The list of recent problems of 1.8.0 made way for it; the counts behind it stay on your website, numbers only.
* "See the difference" no longer shows how long each search took.
* "Open the Customizer" (or the site editor) opens in a new tab, in the setup guide and in the store check.
* Two sentences: the store check says "your currently installed theme's search box"; Help says "your theme's standard search box".

= 1.8.0 =
* New: the Searches tab. What your visitors search for, today and over the last 7, 30 or 90 days: the words searched most and the words that found nothing, with how often and on how many days. Never who searched: no IP address, no visitor id. The counts live at Optimi for 90 days; nothing is stored on your website. On a plan without the search log, the tab shows what it does and which plan has it. During a trial it is on.
* The status of the search is on every tab: the sentence from Home, with its one action, directly under the tabs.
* The plugin counts problems per hour on your website, numbers only: searches Optimi didn't answer in time or refused, lookups stopped by your store's own limit, products that couldn't be sent, and scheduled tasks that ran late. (1.8.0 listed them under Troubleshooting; since 1.8.1 they feed the uptime rate instead.)
* Results while typing wait up to 6 seconds for Optimi instead of 3. An answer that was late but came is now shown and kept for the results page, instead of being thrown away after it was counted.
* The setup screen shows the plans at once: the "Show plans" button is gone, and the screen says what that sends (the plugin's version, nothing about your website). It says once that it is free; its third reason reads "Nothing to pay to start.", and the Free plan's card reads "Start free, forever." with the bonus days under it.

= 1.7.1 =
* The setup screen says first what it costs: free, for good, with the Free plan's products and searches; a trial is an extra on top, to try everything; after it your store continues on Free and nothing ends. The same order wherever the plugin mentions a trial.
* The setup screen before you connect is one short page: what the plugin does, three reasons, one button to start for free, and the plans under it.
* Results while typing: when Optimi doesn't answer in time, the product names from your store stay instead of being replaced by your store's own search, and the next pause asks Optimi again. This works the same in every Optimi search box: the floating button, the menu icon, the full-screen search on a phone, the bar, the block, the widget, and the shortcode.
* While Optimi is searching, the Optimi search box shows a small spinner and the dropdown a quiet "Searching…". A product without a photo shows a plain square instead of a broken image.
* The product names for typing are now written after a fresh install too, within 5 minutes of the first product sync. Stores that installed 1.7.0 fresh get them on the next sync by themselves; the store check says when they will be ready.
* The setup guide: every step has one "Next" button that says where it goes; "Skip for now" shows only while a step isn't done. On "See the difference", "Next" appears after your first comparison.
* The design of the Optimi search box: the preview now follows every choice at once, the shadow included, and "Reset the look to the defaults" puts every choice back; nothing is saved until you press "Save the look".
* The choice of results while typing says both sides: it uses more of your searches, and visitors get the right product while they still type.
* When your searches are used up, the Optimi search box keeps showing your product names while visitors type; it just doesn't ask Optimi until you have searches again.
* When your store holds more products than your plan, Home and the store check say how many are in the search and how many wait for room right away, not only after the next sync.
* "Reset the look to the defaults" puts back the look your store started with, in your theme's colors.
* The setup screen says exactly what goes to Optimi: only your product texts. Customers, orders, prices, and stock never leave your website.

= 1.7.0 =
* The plugin has its own entry in the admin menu, with a setup guide of seven steps, a Home that says in one sentence whether search works, and tabs for Try it, the Search box, Settings, Plan and connection, and Help. The old Settings address leads there.
* "See the difference": your store's own search beside Optimi on your own products, with searches the plugin makes from your catalog (a typo, a plural, a category, a product code). Each comparison counts as one search, and says so before you press.
* The Optimi search box: a floating button with a full-screen search, an icon in a menu, a bar at the top, a block, a widget, and a shortcode. Make it look like your store with a live preview, "Match my website", and a contrast check.
* Results while typing come from the Optimi search box: product names from your store with every letter, Optimi's best matches on a pause. Your theme's search box is no longer changed; Enter there gets Optimi's results page, as before.
* "Check my store": what works and what doesn't on your store, with what it means for visitors and what to do. It counts as one search, and runs once a day by itself.
* How searches are counted, with your own numbers and how long your searches last at your pace. Choose how many letters and how long a pause start a search while typing.
* New installs send products only; posts and pages are a switch. Existing installs keep what they send.
* When your store has more products than your plan holds, for example after a trial, your best-selling products are in the search first, then the newest, and the others wait; nothing is deleted, and they are back as soon as your plan has room. Home says how many are in and how many wait, and the Products list marks the ones that wait.
* When Optimi finds one product by its meaning, the results page shows that product instead of jumping straight to it. A product code or a product's full name still goes straight to the product.
* What gets searched: attributes, the SKUs of variations, and brands. After this update, products with variations or brands are sent again once, calmly in the background.
* Published items with a password are no longer sent, and those sent before are removed from the search by themselves.
* A search now waits up to 3 seconds for Optimi (2 before). Results pages asked by the large search engines' robots use your store's own search.
* Searches from the dropdown are limited per visitor and for the whole store, so nobody can use up your searches with a script.

= 1.6.0 =
* The plugin contacts Optimi only after you ask it to: the settings page shows "Show plans" first, and the plans and the signup follow the press. Once a license key is saved, nothing changes.
* The plans are fetched without your website's address; only a signup and a saved license key send it.
* Ready for WordPress.org: the plugin's scripts and styles are files of their own, the admin notice's close button included, and the database is read through WordPress wherever WordPress can.
* The readme lists every call to Optimi's service, with what is sent, when, and why. Nothing changes for your visitors.

= 1.5.0 =
* Products refused because your plan was full now come back by themselves as soon as your plan has room, for example after an upgrade in the portal. After this update, products refused earlier are sent again once, without you pressing anything.
* The settings page is one calm screen: one sentence that says whether search works, how many products can be found, the searches left, and whether everything is sent. What's in the search shows what's waiting and what isn't in the search, with the reason and what happens about it. "Check connection" shows its result right there.
* A Search column in the Products list says per product: in the search, waiting, or not in the search and why.
* The admin notice appears only when you have to act, and you can close it. It never asks you to upgrade while your plan has room.
* The results page shows only what matches. When nothing does, your store's own search answers, with its normal "no products found" page. Products that aren't in the search yet are still found, and sorting by price, latest, popularity, or rating is applied to the matching products.
* New: the search dropdown with products, categories, and "See all results" while a visitor types.
* When your website's language changes, everything is sent again with the new language.
* The plugin and the background sender no longer send the same products twice at the same moment.

= 1.4.5 =
* Every link to the portal now opens Optimi AI Search as your account has it at the moment you click: your service's page, your services when you have more than one, or the page to add it when you have none. Before, "Open Optimi AI Search in the portal" could open the page of a service that had ended since.
* The same goes for "Manage your plan in the portal" and "Buy credits in the portal". Nothing to do after updating.

= 1.4.4 =
* The Stop button next to Index now shows only while an index run is going. Before, it showed all the time, and Index now stayed visible during a run.

= 1.4.3 =
* The settings page no longer has a Host field. The plugin always connects to Optimi's own server, so your license key can't be sent anywhere else and a typo can't break your search. Nothing to do after updating.

= 1.4.2 =
* Changes that could not be sent at once are now tried again every five minutes. Before this, after the plugin was activated they could wait up to a week.

= 1.4.1 =
* Clearer wording on the settings screens, in English and in Dutch. The searches left now name the last day that still counts ("through"), as the portal does.
* The settings page says exactly what is sent for a post or page: its title, excerpt, content, and categories.

= 1.4.0 =
* Every screen reads like a shop: plans with their price beside them ("a month excl. VAT"), "Start for free", "Sign up", "Subscribe in the portal", and "Buy credits in the portal" with the credits Optimi sells. Nothing is bought in the plugin; it all happens in the Optimi portal.
* The English follows Optimi's word list: license key, website, plan, credits, the Connection tab. The Dutch translation is updated to match.
* When your plan's searches are used up, the settings page shows a "Buy credits in the portal" button.
* No change for visitors: the plugin adds no text to your store, and a search still goes out in the language of the page it was typed on.

= 1.3.2 =
* Every price on the sign-up screen says it is excluding VAT, the way the portal sells it.

= 1.3.1 =
* Dutch text only: the words of the portal's style guide (licentiesleutel, plugin, website, credits, index, koppelen / loskoppelen). Nothing else changed.

= 1.3.0 =
* An address Optimi already knows is mailed a six-digit code first; the plugin asks for it before anything is created.
* When your account already has a service for this search, the plugin says so, links to its page in the portal and opens the key field.
* A search without a free package sends you to the portal to finish your order; the key is pasted afterwards.
* A service Optimi set up for you shows the key field only: no sign-up from the plugin.
* Deactivating stops the sender before it releases the site, so the site is not bound again a second later; the plugin says so when the site was not the one the key is bound to.

= 1.2.0 =
* Sign up from the settings page: the packages, an email address, and your free service and key are created and stored without leaving your site. The portal mails you the login.
* The settings page shows the server your key is bound to, next to the site, and how to move the site: deactivate the plugin here, activate it there with the same key.
* Deactivating the plugin releases the site from the key; the key stays stored for a reactivation.
* The "Get your free key" link to the portal is gone; "I already have a key" on the same screen is where a key from the portal is pasted.

= 1.1.0 =
* Every translation is indexed (WPML and Polylang): a visitor searches in the language of the page they are on, and translations do not count against the plan.
* One key belongs to one site. The settings page shows the service's name, the site it is bound to, and products and translations in the search.
* After this update the plugin sends every item once more, by itself, so the service learns each item's language. Nothing to press; the shop keeps searching meanwhile.

= 1.0.0 =
* First release.
