WooCommerce Template Builder Simple option prices Artwork uploads Responsive storefront
Fully functional after activation. Every feature described in this guide is included in the plugin. No license key, external account, trial period, or paid unlock is required.

1. Requirements

  • WordPress 6.2 or newer
  • WooCommerce active
  • PHP 8.0 or newer
  • An administrator or shop manager account with WooCommerce management permissions
The plugin declares compatibility with WooCommerce HPOS and Cart/Checkout Blocks. For product pages controlled by Elementor, Avada, or another builder, start with Shortcode only (builder safe).

2. What this package includes

Administration

  • Getting Started guided setup
  • Reusable template library
  • Bundled Business Cards Starter kit
  • Template duplication, JSON import/export, and status management
  • Product assignments and system status screens

Customer experience

  • Guided steps and required choices
  • Select, radio, swatch, and checkbox fields, including single boolean choices
  • WooCommerce base price plus simple option adjustments
  • Standard quantity, live recap, add to cart, and saved configurations
  • Responsive desktop and mobile layouts

3. Quick Start

1. Install and activate

Install WooCommerce first. Upload the plugin ZIP from Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, then activate DestinX Product Configurator for WooCommerce.

2. Complete Getting Started

Open Product Configurator > Getting Started. Choose the basic product-page, pricing, quantity, layout, and style settings.

3. Create or import a template

Create an empty template or import the Business Cards Starter kit. Reimporting the same kit opens the existing template and does not create another copy.

4. Build the customer flow

Add steps, fields, options, images, required choices, information notes, and simple option price adjustments.

5. Assign a WooCommerce product

Edit the product, select the template in the Product Configurator panel, configure product-level delivery or artwork settings, and update the product.

6. Test before publishing

Complete every required field, change quantity, verify the live total, test uploads if enabled, add the configuration to cart, and repeat on mobile.

Visual reference

These screenshots show the current interface referenced by this guide. They are bundled with the plugin under documentation/screenshots so the guide also works offline.

4. Template library and Starter Kits

  • Open loads the customer-facing preview.
  • Edit template opens the Template Builder and shows a loading indicator while the configuration is prepared.
  • The actions menu contains duplication and template status actions.
  • The library summarizes assigned products, setup, status, and structural validation.
  • A Starter Kit is imported only once. Later imports open the template already associated with that kit without overwriting your edits.
If an older plugin version already created a duplicate, the update does not delete it automatically. Review the duplicate and remove it manually only after confirming that no product uses it.

5. Template Builder

Steps and fields

  • Use steps to divide the configuration into clear customer decisions.
  • Use field cards as accordions. The header contains field order and delete controls.
  • Enable Required only when a choice must block completion.
  • Supported fields: Select, Radio, Swatch, and Checkbox. A Checkbox can also represent one independent boolean choice.
  • Field and option images use the WordPress Media Library.

Options

  • Every option has a customer label and a stored value.
  • Price delta adds or subtracts a simple amount from the WooCommerce product price.
  • Option information can display explanatory customer content.
  • Use the arrow controls or drag handles to keep options in the intended order.
Save the template after editing. Then test it on a real WooCommerce product because product-level quantity, delivery, uploads, and theme integration affect the final result.

6. Quantity, pricing, shipping, and delivery

Standard quantity

  • Minimum quantity
  • Maximum quantity; use 0 for no upper limit
  • Increment
  • Default quantity

Price calculation

The WooCommerce product price is the base. Selected option adjustments are added or subtracted, then applied to the chosen quantity.

Shipping

Use WooCommerce shipping or the fixed product surcharge configured in the product panel.

Delivery

Use the product-level lead time and delivery note, or disable the delivery estimate for the template.

7. Template completeness and validation

These two indicators help with the configuration itself; they are not a replacement for WordPress Plugin Check.

  • Template completeness is a five-point editor checklist covering steps, fields, options, required choices, and valid quantity values.
  • Configuration validation reports structural errors or warnings, such as empty steps, fields without options, invalid values, or inconsistent configuration data.
  • WordPress Plugin Check separately evaluates directory coding and compliance rules for the plugin package.

8. Assign the template to a WooCommerce product

Edit a product and open the Product Configurator panel.

  • Select the template. With no template selected, the product remains a normal WooCommerce product.
  • Set minimum quantity, optional shipping surcharge, lead time, and delivery note.
  • Enable artwork uploads only when the customer must provide production-ready files.
  • Choose single-file or front/back upload mode, maximum size, required status, and allowed source files.
  • Attach a guidelines PDF, artwork template, or die-cut/outline file.
  • Customize product hero features and description feature boxes when using the plugin layout overrides.

Shortcode

For a custom product template or landing page, use:

[destinxpc_configurator product_id="123"]

9. Storefront behavior

  • The customer completes the template step by step.
  • Required selections and required uploads prevent an incomplete add-to-cart action.
  • The live recap shows completion, selected options, quantity, delivery context, and the configured total.
  • On mobile, the bottom action bar opens the cart-details sheet. Information dialogs remain above the sheet and inside the viewport.
  • The completed configuration is stored with the WooCommerce cart item, checkout item, and order item.

10. Options, layout, and style

  • General: automatic rendering or Shortcode only, WooCommerce visibility, product-page integration, and compatibility behavior.
  • Starter Kits: import the bundled ready-to-customize example.
  • Layout: product hero, configurator composition, recap, and Description/Reviews presentation.
  • Pricing: quantity behavior, WooCommerce tax inheritance, and pricing workspace visibility.
  • Style: colors, typography, radius, field image size, option image size, and interface appearance.
With a page builder, use Shortcode only (builder safe) and insert the shortcode in the builder-controlled product template. Disable plugin page-layout overrides if the theme should remain responsible for the product shell.

11. Artwork files, downloads, and saved configurations

Artwork and customer downloads

Products can provide customer-facing guidelines and artwork templates. Optional upload fields accept the formats allowed in the product settings and respect the configured size limit.

Saved configurations

The customer can save the current setup and, when available in the active flow, copy a share link. Saved data remains attached to the same configuration so it can be reopened without rebuilding every selection.

12. WordPress.org package boundaries

This plugin is complete for the guided configurator workflow documented above. It does not contain locked or disabled built-in features.

The following implementations are not part of this package:

  • Matrix pricing and CSV price imports
  • Conditional field filters or advanced conditional product logic
  • Quote requests, customer quote PDFs, or quote-to-order workflows
  • Production worksheets and post-order production workflows
There are no license checks, trial limits, premium activation switches, or local features waiting to be unlocked in this WordPress.org package.

The Add-ons tab contains informational links to separately distributed commercial plugins. No external page is requested until a link is clicked, and no add-on is installed automatically.

13. The two video tutorials

14. Troubleshooting

Getting Started did not open automatically.
The automatic redirect is intended for the first activation. If the same site or user previously used the plugin, open Product Configurator > Getting Started manually.
A Starter Kit appears to import twice.
Version 0.9.27.6 and newer reopen the existing template. If duplicates were created by an older version, review their product assignments and delete the unused copy manually.
The product page is slow or conflicts with a page builder.
Use Shortcode only mode, disable plugin page-layout overrides, insert the shortcode in the builder template, clear caches, and retest with browser extensions disabled.
The total is not what I expected.
Check the WooCommerce product price, each selected option's Price delta, quantity, taxes, and the selected shipping source.
Add to cart is disabled.
Complete every required field and provide all required artwork files. The completion indicator shows which step still needs attention.
